The Deserted Garden

The Deserted Garden

(From the Chinese of Ku Chih)

A crow or a couple of crows
   Lazily crossing the sky—
   None else now comes by.
There are folk up there, I suppose,
   In the Hillside farms—but anight,
Only a couple of crows
   Drifting over the sky.
But the pear still dons bloom-snows,
   Lonely and proud and shy:
And to heed, there's never an eye,—
Only a couple of crows
   Lazily crossing the sky—
   None else now comes by.
